Storymakers TTRPG Line Joins Kingdom of Threads : A New Adventure Begins

We're thrilled to share that the TTRPG merchandise line from Storymakers Trading Co., the beloved small RPG-inspired brand created by artist and maker Tomi Ann Hill, has officially entered the Kingdom.

CHECK OUT THE STORYMAKERS COLLECTION

For years, Storymakers has captured the joy, imagination, and connection that tabletop role-playing games bring to people’s lives. From enamel pins and washi tape to greeting cards and vinyl stickers, Tomi’s creations have celebrated what it means to share adventures, real or imaginary, with the people we love.

To welcome Storymakers to the KoT family, we sat down with Tomi to hear a little bit about her story as well as our plans for its future in the Kingdom.

The Beginning: A Family That Plays Together

Storymakers began, like so many great things do, around the gaming table.

“We started playing D&D with our kids,” Tomi shared, “and it immediately became a huge part of our family culture. I realized what I loved most about this nerdy TTRPG world is how it brings people together, and I wanted to create things that would celebrate the adventures these games take us on and the relationships we create through them.”

That love for shared stories and connection quickly became the heart of Storymakers. Each product, from an enamel pin marking your character’s first quest to a roll of washi tape depicting a whimsical faerie village, was designed to spark joy, laughter, and belonging.

Crafting Connection Through Playful, Story-Inspired Design

“I love pins and stickers,” Tomi said. “They’re such an accessible way to share your own story, or to gift someone something that says, I see what makes you YOU.

Her passion for design and gifting grew into a creative line full of color, humor, and heart. Washi tape began as a personal passion project: “I just love it myself and I was delighted to find that our customers did, too! Each new product was another way to celebrate the connections that come from creating imaginary adventures together.”

The Heart of Storymakers — Moments That Mattered Most

Running Storymakers was, in Tomi’s words, “a labor of love” — one that created memories as touching as they were nerdy.

She recalled one story in particular that she’ll never forget:

“A new mom reached out to tell me she had given her husband the DM/Dad pin to  let him know she was pregnant after they’d been waiting for a long time. She sent me a video of him opening up the pin, staring at it in confusion, and then realization dawning. His ecstatic reaction was just the best. I was thrilled to be a part of that moment in their family story.”

Over the years, as Storymakers grew, it became a family affair, with late-night packing parties, brainstorming sessions, and a small team of passionate makers. “You can’t do it alone,” Tomi reflected. “My family, our employees, our customers — people are really at the heart of everything we do.”

Her favorite collection, the D&D Family line, was inspired by her own gaming group. “It captures the relationships and silliness and fun that come with going on these adventures together,” she said. “Playing D&D with our kids was the best thing we did to create solid relationships with them through their teenage years.”

A New Chapter with Kingdom of Threads

When Tomi reached a point where she was ready for a new chapter, she wanted to make sure Storymakers’ designs would live on in good hands.

“I love Kingdom of Threads’ lighthearted, colorful, fun artwork,” she said. “But the more I got to know the team and your values as a company - values of compassion, equity, inclusion, and truly supporting each other - the happier I was to know that Storymakers would be a great fit not just in style but at heart.”

As the Storymakers collection joins Kingdom of Threads, Tomi says what excites her most is seeing her designs continue to brighten people’s days:

“When I came to a point where I needed to move on to a new chapter of life, my biggest sticking point was a sadness about these designs just being shelved when I knew they bring little bits of joy to peoples’ days. The Kingdom of Threads team is so good at what they do, and I’m just so happy that my dorky lil designs will have a new life in such good hands, going out to a much wider audience. In a world that often feels heavy and dark, I’m so glad they’ll get to keep being a little ray of sunshine.”

What’s Next for Storymakers with Kingdom of Threads

Storymakers TTRPG designs are now officially available in the Kingdom of Threads shop, including fan-favorite enamel pins, washi tapes, and more for tabletop and fantasy fans alike.

Tomi’s imagination built a world where stories, families, and friendships thrive — and we’re honored to help that story continue.

At Kingdom of Threads, books are a cornerstone of what we do. But we’ve been expanding into tabletop and RPG gaming because the overlap between these communities is undeniable. Many of the same fans who fall in love with fantasy novels are also passionate gamers and storytellers, and that includes our own team. In some ways, this expansion is simply us leaning further into the things we already love.

At their core, role-playing games are just another way to celebrate stories. They invite people to step into new worlds, embody characters, and co-create narratives with their friends—just like authors and readers connect through books. And, like the book community, tabletop gaming thrives on tight-knit, welcoming fandoms.

For us, adding more TTRPG merch to our collections feels like a natural extension of our mission: to create magical merchandise that brings the stories people love into their everyday lives. After all, all the best stories have dragons.
